Okahandja, Namibia
The small city (24,000 inhabitants) of Okahandja was founded in the late 19th century by German missionaries. This led to the adoption by Herero women of European outfits. Voluminous gowns, completed by a cattle-horn-shaped headdress, came to represent the cultural identity of the Herero people and can still be seen in the streets today. January 2016.
