A pow wow is a gathering of Indian tribes in a common circle of friendship. I was lucky enough to attend the annual Navajo pow wow which is held every year at the end of July in the mountains above Taos Pueblo. The main event at the pow wow is a dance competition for women and men, broken down by age group and dance style. This is one of the most beautiful festivals I attended in my life. July 1999.

Un pow wow est un regroupement de tribus indiennes dans un cercle commun d’amitié. J’ai eu la chance d’assister au pow wow annuel des Navajos qui a lieu chaque année fin juillet dans les montagnes au dessus de Taos Pueblo. L’événement principal du pow wow est un concours de danse pour hommes et femmes, avec des catégories par âge et style de danse. C’est une des plus belles fêtes auxquelles j’aie assisté dans ma vie.
